A chrome delete means we cover your factory chrome trim with premium vinyl, usually in a gloss or matte black finish, instead of removing the metal itself. At Wrap4Cars, we typically apply it to window trim, grilles, badges, and other chrome accents to give the vehicle a cleaner, more modern look.
We start by thoroughly washing and cleaning the trim, then use alcohol and microfiber towels to remove any remaining contamination from the chrome and its edges. From there, we carefully apply the vinyl, make fine cuts where needed, tuck the edges cleanly, and use a little heat so the finish sits securely with no silver showing.
The timing depends on your vehicle’s year, make, and model, because larger SUVs and vehicles with more trim pieces take longer than simpler cars. Most full chrome delete jobs are completed in about one to three shop days.
We recommend bringing your vehicle in clean and free of wax or sealant on the trim areas so the vinyl can bond properly. If you already know about any rust, loose trim, or damaged chrome, it helps to point that out in advance because those issues can affect adhesion.
Chrome delete vinyl generally lasts around three to five years under normal use when it is installed with proper prep and quality materials. In Boston, road salt, wet spring conditions, and freeze-thaw cycles can shorten the life of lower trim pieces, so clean edges and regular washing matter.
